The web is awash with reports about Christmas Island fishing, but it can be tough wading through the hoopla and promotion to get any factual information you can use. The Villages… the Captain Cook Hotel… we have reports about every major Christmas Island fishing operation, along with continuing updates on the state of the fishery. In-migration of human population is a problem on Christmas Island, and so is netting of bonefish by locals. But, despite it all, Christmas Island fishing continues to draw anglers from all over the world who love the island's expansive flats, its colorful Korean Wreck fishing area and its intricate network of blue water channels filled with trevally. Fishing Christmas Island is one of those experiences every well-traveled angler has under his belt, or is planning to experience sometime in the future. A relatively new development here is an emphasis on offshore fishing. Our advice is to plan your next Christmas Island fishing trip soon, as pressure on the flats from visiting anglers and locals alike is increasing.
