Reliable information on fishing in Cuba is hard to come by, but here at The Angling Report we have more than a dozen subscriber-written reports on fishing in Cuba, plus scores of previously published articles. Our Cuba fishing coverage includes on-site reports on all of the major inshore fly fishing spots - La Salina at Bay of Pigs; Queens Garden Archipelago; and the Archipelago de los Canarreos that stretches from Isla de la Juventud out to Cayo Largo. We also have all of the latest information on the US travel embargo and how it affects Americans who want to go fishing in Cuba. The major species inshore anglers go fishing in Cuba for are bonefish, tarpon and permit. Most of the good fishing in Cuba is controlled by a company called Avalon. The Italian owners of that company offer everything from mothership trips… to barge-based trips… to trips based out of a resort hotel on Cayo Largo. The guiding you will encounter if you go fishing in Cuba is uneven at best, and some of the transportation infrastructure is ancient. But the resource is outstanding. All considered, the inshore saltwater fishing in Cuba is as good as you will find anywhere in the world. And the experience of just going there - to an island that time forgot - is absorbing and interesting, albeit somewhat saddening.
