Deneki Outdoors Adds Chile Operation To Fishing Property Empire

Andrew Bennett of Deneki Outdoors is adding Chile to the list of fishing destinations where he is operating. Bennett, you recall, is the former West Coast software executive who has been quietly building an empire of fishing properties and a loyal following by keeping his eye on what he says are the key ingredients in a successful fishing operation namely, good fishing, good equipment, good guides and good, but not extravagant, lodgings. His holdings already include Andros South fishing lodge in the Bahamas; BC West Lodge on the Dean River in British Columbia; and Alaska West fishing lodge on the Kanektok River in southwest Alaska. Now, he's adding an operation in Chile. Here, in his own words, is what he is up to in that part of the world:

For the past several years, I've been spending a lot of time looking for the right opportunity for our company in southern Chile. I've always felt that the fisheries there would be an excellent fit for our guests and our team, and a great match with our existing lodges in Alaska, British Columbia and the Bahamas. Our company has always had close connections with southern Chile, with many of our guides having worked in the area during the South American summer, and several key team members eventually living in the area and marrying Chileans. We've gone through an extensive process of talking with our current customers, getting input from booking agents and friends in the industry, test-fishing many river systems in Chile and working with friends who currently operate in southern Chile. At the end of this process, we decided that for our guests and our team, the ideal trip to Chile isn't to a fixed-base lodge, but rather it's a mobile program that allows a broad sampling........(continued)
