Luggage Theft A Problem With LAN Airlines

Now here is a scary note about luggage theft with LAN Airlines. It's from subscriber Tim Liptak, who just got back from a 10-day fishing trip in Argentina. We'll publish his entire report in a future issue of The Angling Report. In the meantime, it is worth noting that he had some problems on his flight from Buenos Aires to Bariloche. He writes:

"All of us in our group met in Buenos Aires, where we spent the night. We departed the next day from the domestic airport, flying on LAN Airline to a town called Bariloche. The flight lasted two and a half hours. I feel I should warn fellow subscribers that LAN assumes no responsibility for checked baggage on this flight. Counter personnel even made a point of telling us there is often theft associated with luggage handled by them. Indeed, most of our bags were targeted for theft. We had a camera, an iPhone, a knife and some medication stolen from our checked baggage on the flight to Bariloche. I certainly recommend that one not check fly rods and reels and anything of value on board the Lan flight from Buenos Aires to Bariloche...."
