Fishing The Minnesota/Ontario Boundary Waters Canoe Area

I'm indebted to Eric Dunland of a firm called Canoe Country Escapes (*) for a brief rundown on some fishing trips he offers into the Minnesota/Ontario Boundary Waters Canoe Area for walleye, smallmouth bass and northern pike. Dunland writes: "I realize our trips are a bit off target for your predominantly cold and saltwater subscribers, but a few of your readers might be interested in the fact that we offer a complete wilderness experience of which fishing is only an important part. Our offerings include pure fishing trips and custom guided trips, as well as various kinds of non fishing trips. I recommend our head fishing guide, Dr. Barry Shaffer of the Minnesota Department of Education, for your most demanding clients. He's been guiding for us for the last 10 years and has developed quite a fan club. Your subscribers can check him out by looking over his "BWCA Fishing Tips," a copy of which we put on the back of our Equipment List. I'd also be happy to send your subscribers a "Fishing Essentials" article by Barry printed in a recent issue of the Boundary Waters Journal. Again, our trips may not fit into your niche precisely, but perhaps some of your readers are looking for a reasonably affordable, intelligently guided trip into some wonderful country that allows them to include their wife and/or kids.
