DESCRIPTION OF FISHING
Species Sought/Availability: Marlin - Availability: Average
Tuna - Availability: Abundant
Dolphinfish - Availability: Average
Roosterfish - Availability: Average
Description of Catch Made: Day 1-15 yellowfin tuna (10-20 pounds), 2 white skipjack (5-10 pounds), 1 dorado (15 pounds). Day 2 - 5 roosterfish (10-35 pounds), 5 sierra mackeral (5 pounds), 2 dorado (10-15 pounds). Day 3 - Too windy and rough to get out. Day 4 - 1 striped marlin (120 pounds), 1 dorado (15 pounds).
Type of Fishing: Cruiser style boats. Some drift fishing, mostly trolling, some flyfishing.
Equipment Used: Conventional 20 and 40 pound tackle. 12 weight.
Flies Used: Blue/white deceiver style, tandem 6/0 hooks. Blue/white 3/0 deceiver. Black/chartreuse deceiver style, tandem 6/0 hooks. Silver 4/0 pencil popper.
Description of Hatches: Early morning, baitfish near surface.
Water/Weather Conditions: Comfortable, some wind each day. Day 3, so much wind fishing was not possible.
