ADDITIONAL COMMENTS AND/OR OUTFITTER/BOOKING AGENT REBUTTAL
Best of Kamchatka is a company opwned and operated by Will Blair out of Redding, CA. He arranged and hosts two different Kamchatka fishing trips. One is on the Ozernaya River which is based out of one camp and all of the fishing is done out of a jet boat, fishing different sections. One is a float trip on the Two Yurt (which is what I did). This is a 50 mile or so stretch of river with 6 camps set up every 8-10 miles apart. You spend your day making your way from camp #1 to camp #2 on drift boats and stopping to fish any water that looks good to you. Your goal is to make the 8-10 mile float by early evening. Then of course you do #2 - #3, #3 - #4 and so one each day.

We were fishing for large trout. In the process we also caught grayling, arctic char and dolly varden. The majority of fishing that I did was with a large mouse pattern. The Rainbows in particular would take these flies very aggressivly when skated across the current as opposed to dead drifting. They seemed to like the "swimming action". The take and the fights from the raindows is unlike any other fishing I have done, not to mention the size of the fish...which I would say they average 18" or so and usually would catch a 23+" fish each day as well. We also heard that the week before on the same strect that (2) 30+" rainbows were landed.

The other aspect of the trip that was so great were the acommodations and the scenery. The camps and sleeping cabins were very comfortable. The camp guides were very nice and provided excellent meals. They were also a great help transferring all of our "non-fishing" equipment from camp to camp so that we could maximize our fishing. Also, the scenery was as beautiful as I have ever seen. I fish every year in southwestern Montana and it dosen't even come close to this. Another great thing is the fact that you do not see another person, car, or any sign of human life the entire time. Since it is a several hour helicopter ride to the first camp, you are assured of absolute solitude. Where else can you get 50 miles of blue ribbon rainbow fishing all to yourself?

About the only compaint that I can come up with would be the bugs, which I understand do not last the entire season. There were tons of mosquitos and white sox on shore ( at the camp sites), but they did not seem to bother us when we were on the good water. As long as you have Deet on, they would not bite. Also, the sleeping cabins were bug free which would allow a good night sleep.

Overall, I would reiterate that this was definitely the best fishing trip I have ever taken and would love to do this exact trip with this same outfitter every year!
