SUMMARY REMARKS
Problems on the Trip: No problems at all.
Highlights of the Trip: Catching kingfish that sky rocket on topwater flies is an absolute blast. Having large Spanish macs cut in half by large kings at boat side was very cool. The real highlight was the spinner sharks. They get their name because they jump and corkscrew in the air when hooked and most of the time apparently just for fun. I have seen spinner get legitimately eight to ten feet in the air all while doing corkscrews. The sharks were in four to ten feet of water within one hunderd yards of the beach and swimmers, who apparently oblivious to the hundreds of sharks around even thought they are jumping out of the water. Note spinners are very skittish and do not bother people. We caught the spinners on top water shark flys. The eat was fantastic, some slurping like a trout and some hammering it like you would expect from a wound up shark. The five seconds following the eat are incredible. The fish are FAST, the first run is an easy one hundred and fifty yards. Spinners run farther than any fish I have hooked on fly, tarpon, bones, etc. The great thing is that I have all of this on video. My wife would shoot video while I was fishing, I would shoot while she was fishing, and Capt Scott would film at other times. I can't wait until June to do some fishing for the bonito and dolphin.
Cost of the Trip: $450.
Would You Recommend This Trip to a Friend? Yes
Why? Capt Scott knows his waters and how to find fish. I will not personally guarantee fish but I look forward to my trips more and more each time. The fishery on the south east part of Florida is a nice change from the Gulf Coast in Tampa.
Are There Non-Fishing Activities? Yes
If So, What Are They? Palm Beach has fantastic shopping from what I hear but we only fished.
