Product Being Tested: fenwick graphite fly rod HMXF 906-2 9 ft, 2 piece, 6 wt dull charcoal/black finish
fenwick cartridge reel DCC56 charcoal/black finish |
Snapshot of your experience with products of this sort: both performed well. reel was a problem initially- see below on a 10 scale/ rod gets a 7-8 and reel a 6-7 |
Date of Test: 11/15 and 11/22 |
Place of Test: Fished at local trout club (rockwell spring creek) near sandusky ,oh This is a small meandering manicured stocked spring creek(bows, brook, and brown)(have own hatchery) as well as natural strem bred fish. |
Test Condition: sun, temp in 50-60's some wind nice days for november in our area |
Relevant related equipment or products: used new shakespeare generation 3 wonderline ( WF6 trout) and rio leader 7 1/2 ' 3x with tippets to 6x I really liked the wonderline - very slick and easy to cast- floats like a cork |
Your experience with the product: the rod handeled very well. If it was not labeled,I don't think I could tell much difference betwwen it and some of the high end rods. Same number of guides as the sage/t&t,etc. Had dull fifish, which I prefer. The reel performed ok - I tend not to like smaller reels. Drag did not have a real test as the fish caught were not over 2#. I will take it with me and try on the montana fish some time. |
Qualities you liked about the product: rod was fast and cast well. Good loop |
Qualities you didn't liked about the product: reel came with a right hand set up ,but not labeled as such. No directions as to how to convert. Had to contact company (via fax) as to making it into a left hand reel, which they did answer promply. Fairly easy to convert. |

Summary Comments I would have no problem recommending either the rod or reel. Both were more than adequate |
