Mexico: Subscriber David Fulmer (Report ID 4174) tells us he fished Ascension Bay and Espirito Santo Bay this past February from Casa Blanca Lodge on a trip booked through Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures (www.yellowdogflyfishing.com). Fulmer says he averaged eight bones per day from two to five pounds, but struck out on permit because cool water kept permit out of the bays. His only complaint was about his guide’s limited English. That was offset somewhat by his good ability to see fish and his good boat-handling skills. As for the lodge, he describes it as “well run, with great Mexican cooking and an attentive staff.” He says the non-fishing wives in his group were well entertained with birding, beach walking, swimming and boat tours. He gives the cost of the trip as $4,365 for anglers, plus tips and drinks, and an additional $485 for a non-fisher.
