Last month, subscriber Ronald Myers filed such a rave review of the brook trout fishing at Fortress Lake in Canada that we asked for additional feedback. Subscriber Keith Findley obliged by sending the following note: “My wife and I fished Fortress Lake for a week way back in September 1998. I have fished in more than 30 countries around the world and I rate the entire package as great. I understand the place has new management since we were there and many upgrades. I am sure the connection to Orvis and Frontiers Travel has contributed to the experience. The change to catch-and-release must have also enhanced the quality of fishing, which was already good. Would-be visitors need to note that the lake is at 4,400 feet, so be prepared for some very changeable and marginal weather year-round. All considered, the setting, scenery, and flight were spectacular. Fortress Lake is a truly unique and wonderful place.”

Postscript: We are indebted to Findley for a geographical correction relating to Fortress Lake. It’s in the Canadian Province of British Columbia, not Alberta, as we stated last month. We regret the error.
