Subscriber John Miao of Chicago is very pleased with a day of steelhead fishing handled for him on the Pere Marquette River of Michigan last November by Gabe Nyblad of Tail Chasin Charters (http://tail chasincharters.com). Miao reports going three for seven using centerpin fly methods and rods (www.center pinning.com). I broke off my largest fisha 12 pounderwhen I tried to stop it from going into a logjam with an eight-pound leader, he writes. I did catch and release a nice eightpound buck steelie, however.
Miao gives the cost of his day of fishing as $300. He says conditions were generally pleasant, with little wind and temperatures in the 50s. It was a scenic and quiet time of year to catch some nice, healthy fish, he writes. He recommends the experience to fellow subscribers.
