Subscriber Hugh Clark has very good things to say about a stay at Tsylos Park Lodge (www.tsylos.com) in British Columbia this past July 6 to 15. The focus of the trip was on rainbow trout, and he reports catching 10 to 20 a day averaging between 18 and 20 inches, all on dry or skated flies. He says he spent about 90 percent of his time float fishing and the rest wade fishing on the Chilko River and on Chilko Lake.
“The dry fly fishing was superb,” Clark writes, “and the food and accommodation were excellent. Dry fly fishing for large rainbow simply doesn’t get better than this in British Columbia or in Washington State where I live.”
Clark gives the cost of his seven-night trip as $4,000, including the flight to the lodge from Vancouver. He warmly recommends this spot to fellow subscribers.
Postscript: Tsylos Park Lodge is an Orvis-endorsed facility that also offers grizzly bear viewing, horseback riding vacations, wilderness horse pack trips, as well as fishing. It is located in a very scenic area.
