We are continuing to follow the development of fishing programs in Cuba. At this point, our Trip-Planning Database on the island numbers 16 pages and it is must reading in its entirety by any non-US subscribers planning to visit Cuba. Note the pointed reference to "non-US subscribers." We insert that because word reaching us is the US Treasury Department is getting serious about discouraging travel to Cuba in the wake of Castro’s downing of two private US planes near the island. It may be just talk but we understand Mexican and Canadian Customs officials are being incentivized to rat on Americans returning from Cuba. If so, it is worth noting that the penalties now for the unauthorized expenditure of money in Cuba by US citizens have been upped to 10 years in jail and up to $250,000 in fines. We wouldn’t be doing our appointed job if we didn’t point this out.
