  • Highlights of the Trip:
Lodge owners Larry and Marlene Loney are the perfect hosts. Both work very hard to make this experience perfect for the quests - each with their own (and very different) skills. Larry builds and maintains all lodge facilities, including the maintenance of many miles of trails between lakes. Boats are in great shape. Boat motors are all clean and comfortable. Bed linens and down comforters were first rate. Marlene is a very creative chef. Dinners were an event, with appetizer, main course and dessert - more than enough to satisfy a big hunger after a long day of fishing and hiking. The lodge maintains a two year calendar of meals such as not to repeat the same menu for any quests in that period (most guests, I understand, are year after year repeat customers). This is just one example of the attention to detail maintained by this lodge. Marlene is also a licensed fishing guide and for her customary fee of 15 cents (Canadian) will (if she has time) accompany some guests as what she calls a "fishing companion". She has a commanding knowledge of all of the fifteen lakes available to guests and works with local authorities to manage the fishery to provide the best and most productive angling experience for all guests. I will return to this lodge many times after this first experience. I highly recommend the experience to those who are looking for these types of conditions.
