The fishing is so good, one tends to take it for granted. The entire week's experience is memorable. The weatherport tents one sleeps in are very dry, heated, tall enough in which to stand and the bed is comfy. The food is top notch. The best part is the people. Somehow Alaska West recruits and hires guides that truly enjoy fishing. Sure this is their job, but they seem to have as much fun as you do catching and playing fish. We are blessed and have been to Alaska West five times: twice in late June for Kings and three times in August for Silvers. The rainbows are a constant presence. This was the first time we have been their without our two sons. Their first trip was in 2004 when they were still young teenagers. They are now out of college and involved in their own careers. Even though the boys are were more than competent fishermen, they had guides who also had rock skipping contest with them, build fires after a cold rain, roasted marshmallows, played home run derby on a gravel bar, stalked rainbows in backwaters and explored hidden side channels. These guides realize there is more to being a good guide than saying, "hey, there's a fish." Even the other anglers at Alaska West are special. Because Alaska West has such a fishing focus, the anglers are pleasant, mannerly, interesting and talkative. My sons have met and talked with anglers from England, Europe, Russia, South America and all over the Untied States. What a great experience for our sons. - Would you recommend this trip to a friend?:
